Configure® Now Registered for Use in Canada
Walnut Creek, Calif.– Fine Americas, Inc. today announced the Canadian registration
of Configure®, the only pure benzyladenine (6-BA) plant growth regulator available for
ornamental growers. The product is registered for use on a number of ornamental
crops, including Christmas cactus (Schlumbergera spp.) and purple coneflower
(Echinacea spp.).
“This is great news for Canadian ornamental growers,” stated Greg Johnson,
president of Fine Americas. “Configure® is truly a one-of-a-kind product for increasing
lateral and basal branching and improving plant appearance and marketability. In
addition, it promotes flowering and helps growers produce more compact plants that
are easier to transport, manage and display.”
Kevin Forney, technical services manager for Fine Americas, noted “Configure® is
rapidly becoming the PGR of choice for ornamentals such as Christmas cactus, purple
coneflower and plantain lily (Hosta spp.). It comes in a concentrated, ready-to-mix
formulation and should be applied as a foliar spray according to label directions.”
Forney recommended that growers “trial” Configure® on a limited basis before
widespread use, as individual plant response can vary based on variety, growing
medium, light, ambient temperature and other factors.
